Welcome Home Squad Helping our warriors know they are appreciated and supported when they return home by having a congregational prayer, the Mayor presenting them with an Appreciation Plaque, a special meal or dessert, and inviting them to share what is on their heart from their experience.
Monthly W.O.N. Newsletter Squad
An encouraging newsletter for the warrior and his family that would include: A journal entry from God’s Word, The W.O.N. squads and contacts, prayer requests, praises, testimonials, questions and answers and special needs. Another way for our warriors and their families to feel connected with each other and with us in The W.O.N. Squad.
Web Squad
This is a tool for communicating with our troops when they have internet access. A web site that would provide our warrior with a message from God's word of salvation and hope, information about who we are and the ways we want to support them, and a place they can contact us.
Military Prayer Board Squad
This is a decorative board located in the foyer of our church. It is a reminder for us all to pray for our warriors and their families. It displays a picture of our warriors and also their family. This squad would keep the board current and have the responsibility of being familiar with the warriors family.
Local Veteran Squad
From long ago to near present, our local veterans served our country. It would be meaningful to get involved in their lives today assisting and supporting them by praying for them, taking a part in their activities when invited, or helping provide for a specific need.
Bereavement Squad
This squad would come alongside to help bring comfort and support to family and friends when their warrior has fallen. We can help by praying for them, bringing a meal or snacks, sending a card, offering our quiet presence, taking the sibling(s) out for a coke, sending cards or letters to their battle buddies and Commanding Officer, offering to clean their home, or making a special gift of remembrance.
Seamstress Squad
This squad is for those who can sew, knit, or crochet. Making needed gifts for our warriors such as cooling and sand scarves for those warriors who need protection from the heat and sand storms, and blankets, mittens or booties for the wounded in hospitals.
Legislative Squad For those who desire to communicate information about current issues that calls for our attention to pray and seek the Lord for direction. If any action is needed, it would be by making a peaceful phone call or writing a letter of concern.
Prayer Warrior Squad This squad would support our military men and women by praying for them daily. A squad that would ask our Lord to help us be closely connected to our warriors and know their specific needs.
Writing Warrior Squad The purpose of this squad is to embrace our warriors by sending them letters or cards of appreciation and encouraging words. Sending a letter or card to our warrior’s family will also encourage them, helping them know that their spouse, and parent is being cared for by others too.
Adopt a Warrior Adoption is for all our military, for those in the states as well as overseas and at war. Sending them care packages, letters, cards, gift certificates, etc. It is having the desire to invite them into our life as well. For the disciple of Christ, it is like being missionaries with our own military men and women. As we embrace them, we ask God to reveal Himself through His truth and our actions.
Wounded Warrior Squad This squad embraces those wounded and ill by sending letters of compassion, gratitude and hope, care packages according to their needs and interests. (for example: pictures, a Bible, journal, magazines and DVDs of interest. You may end up adopting this warrior for the rest of your life!
Kids for Kids Squad Our own kids comforting a warriors childs life by sending letters, cards, homemade pictures, emailing, sending care packages with fun stuff, journaling, etc. It is much like having a pen pal, but greater!
Chaplains Squad A squad for those with a heart for God’s leaders in the military. Those who would help support the needs of our chaplains as they provide the care, advice and comfort to their troops. They need Bibles, journals, chapel items, letters of appreciation, gifts for them to give a warrior, etc.
